Donation Needs:

To continue our mission, we rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and community organizations. Your donations help us purchase materials, acquire land, and cover the costs associated with building and renovating homes. We need your help to make affordable housing a reality for more families. Every dollar counts and goes directly toward creating a positive impact in our community.

How You Can Help:

1. Donate: Your financial support is crucial. Whether it’s a one-time gift or a recurring donation, every contribution helps us move closer to our goal of ending the housing crisis in our area.
2. Volunteer: We need skilled and unskilled volunteers to join us on build days. Whether you’re experienced in construction or just willing to lend a hand, your time and effort are invaluable.
3. Spread the Word: Educate others about the importance of affordable housing and how Habitat for Humanity is making a difference. Share our mission on social media, talk to your friends and neighbors, and encourage others to get involved.

Why You Should Get Involved:

By supporting Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity, you’re not just helping to build homes--you’re helping to build futures. Together, we can make a lasting difference in our community. When we all pitch in, we create a ripple effect of positive change, fostering a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community for everyone.
Join us in making homeownership a reality for more families.

Who We Are:

Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity located in Mitchell, South Dakota is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions for families in Davison and Hanson counties. We believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home, and we’re committed to making that a reality through community-driven efforts and partnerships.

What We Do:

Our mission is to build and renovate homes, creating opportunities for families to achieve the dream of homeownership. We work with families who invest their time and energy through “sweat equity,” helping build their homes alongside volunteers. Once completed, families purchase the homes with an affordable mortgage, ensuring long-term stability.

Where We Operate:

Our efforts focus on Davison and Hanson counties, where the need for affordable housing is critical. By working within these communities, we aim to tackle the local housing crisis head-on, improving lives and strengthening neighborhoods.

Why It Matters:

Affordable housing is more than just shelter—it’s a foundation for a better future. Stable housing contributes to improved health, better education outcomes for children, and increased financial stability. When families have a safe place to live, they can focus on thriving rather than just surviving. Our work not only changes the lives of individual families but also uplifts entire communities, creating a stronger, more resilient region.

Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Mission Statement
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

About Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity
Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope.
Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

ALL ARE WELCOME
Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people.
In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize.
This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
